Mimi is a 9-year-old Burmese girl.  Her family fled Myanmar (Burma) after Mimi’s father escaped prison, where he was held for his pro-democracy stand.  In 2007, Mimi’s family came to Atlanta, where she is in second grade.

Eight-year-old Zuberi was born in a refugee camp. He lived in the bleak camp in Tanzania for three years with his family while civil war raged in neighboring Burundi, their native land. With a stable peace at home, Zuberi, his parents and seven siblings returned to Burundi last year.
