Resources for Refugee Youth & Families

• Communities in Schools (CIS) of Aurora, along with Project Unity, is once again offering free school supplies and backpacks for low income students. The back to school fair will be held at the John Harkness Center at 60 S. Fourth St. in Aurora on Saturday, August 7th from 10am to 3pm. Also available at the fair will be immunizations; physicals; dental, lead and eye screenings; and information from over 50 local service providers. WR volunteers can help their refugee families by helping them gather the necessary documentation and providing directions or transportation. • Low income families can enjoy the Fox Valley Kids coupon booklet. These coupons provide a means for children to attend the aquatic centers (Splash Country, Phillips, and Blackberry Farm).  Participants complete a scholarship application form and provide proof of household income. Applications available at Eola, Prisco, and Vaughn Centers or at www.foxvalleyparkdistrict.org. Completed applications are dropped off and booklets are picked up at district Administration office 712 S. River Street.  Booklet cost is $10 and offers a variety of free admission coupons – total value is $324.
• Super Screen Saturday Nights at Phillips Park!  The movies are geared for families and are free!  You bring a lawn chair or blanket and snacks and enjoy an evening under the stars watching a movie.  A list of the dates and movies is at http://www.auroramoviesinthepark.com/.
