Imagine This...
Imagine you are a 13 year old living in Rwanda. One day you are just a kid, going to school, living happily with your parents and four younger siblings. You don't have much, but you have enough food to eat and a roof over your head. Suddenly, one day your parents become ill. They become very weak, begin to lose weight and are eventually unable to work. They have AIDS. Now, you are forced to become the caretaker of your family. You must work and tend the family garden for food. Within a year, your parents are dead, leaving you orphaned at the age of 14, and you are now responsible for your four siblings. This situation is a harsh reality for an estimated 12 million children in Africa.
Project 5:16 will allow youth in the U.S. to have a direct impact in the life of a stranger in a developing country, like the 13 year old in the story. World Relief is reaching out to youth groups in the United States and around the world promoting God's plan for them - abstinence. Project 5:16 will educate youth groups on topics including peer pressure, sexuality, God's plan for sex and honest facts and statistics about AIDS.
Waiting to have sex is not just a healthy practice - it is the way God intended sexuality to work. God desires purity for all of His children. If you haven't waited, God still desires purity for you. It is never too late for a new beginning. God is forgiving and will accept you with open arms. Turn to God, regain your virginity, decide on chastity, make new friends and pray for forgiveness.
Over the next five years, World Relief will reach 1.8 million youth in African and the Caribbean with the illuminating message of abstinence.
