Project 5:16 teaches and encourages teens to practice abstinence before marriage, and also functions as a force for AIDS abstinence education in developing countries.

How Does Project 5:16 Work?

  1. The group must select a fundraising activity. The fundraising activities may include but are not limited to a night hike, a lock-in or sunrise worship service. Once the fundraising activity has been selected, set a fundraising goal for your group. The fundraising goal will allow each of the participants to know what their individual goal is.
  2. The group suggests and participates in a service activity. Service activities may include volunteering, community service or a craft night. Fundraising and service activities may vary depending on the group size and preferences.
  3. The group leader will decide where and when to implement the bible studies. The group leader should also encourage the participants to do the "On your Own" bible studies in the Participant Guide.
  4. Introduce Project 5:16 to the church congregation, collect donations and begin to promote your Project 5:16 event.
  5. After the Project 5:16 event, print and complete the Project 5:16 participant form and include it with your donations so that we can send the participants their free gifts. All donations should be sent to World Relief, 7 East Baltimore Street, Attn: Shine Team, Baltimore, Md 21202. The money that is raised from your Project 5:16 event will support our AIDS programs in Rwanda, Mozambique, Malawi, Haiti, Burundi, Burkina Faso, Kenya, Cambodia and China.
  6. Don't forget to report back to your church on the success of the event and email us your group's pictures and stories.
