Ask Congress to Restore SNAP Benefits for Refugees and other Lawfully Present Immigrants
While most of the 42 million who rely on SNAP benefits are regaining access after the shutdown, an estimated 45% of the individuals served by World Relief in the United States are permanently losing access to the program, even as the government reopens.
Passed in July, the budget reconciliation bill known as the One Big Beautiful Bill Act of 2025 strips SNAP benefits from any foreign-born individual who has not yet secured a Green Card – even if they are lawfully present. This means that humanitarian immigrants, including refugees, asylees, and victims of human trafficking, can no longer access SNAP benefits to feed their families.
Scripture could not be clearer: in Leviticus 19:9–10, God commands His people to ensure that immigrants and the poor have access to food.
Please call or email your Members of Congress today to ask them to reinstate SNAP benefits for refugees and other lawfully present immigrants.
