Seattle - Chitra

Chitra Hanstad

Executive Director

Chitra began as Executive Director at World Relief Seattle in January 2017. Prior to this, she spent time in India consulting for Justice Ventures International (an anti-trafficking organization) on strategic planning and fund development and as a Philanthropic Advisor for the Seattle Foundation. While her career started in corporate advertising, public relations and media relations, she has spent most of the last twenty years working for local and international non-profits. Chitra has a passion for seeing at-risk communities thrive. She has served on many boards including Covenant World Relief & Urban Impact, and volunteers with The Stability Network.

Seattle - Luke

Luke Williams

Associate Director

Luke has served in various roles at World Relief Seattle since 2004. Over the years, you could find him delivering furniture to refugee families, training staff and interns, or assisting immigrants released from the NW Detention Center. Luke has served twice as Interim Executive Director; in his current role, he oversees most of World Relief Seattle’s direct services with refugees and immigrants as well as finance and operations. Luke has a wide range of experience training community groups, churches, and partner agencies. He and his family live in South Seattle and are members of Emerald City Bible Fellowship. Luke holds a Bachelor's degree in Peace and Global Studies from Earlham College and is pursuing a Master of Divinity at Seattle Pacific Seminary.

Seattle — Medard

Medard Ngueita

Resettlement Programs Director

Born and raised in Chad, Medard moved to the US in 2006 and joined the World Relief team in 2012. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Geography from the University of Ngaoundere in Cameroon, a Certificate in High Performance Leadership from Cornell University, and a M.A. in International Community Development from Northwest University. Medard oversees the initial reception and placement of refugees and asylees. He supports the casework team, donations and housing, and addresses the needs of refugees, ayslees and immigrants in the community.

Seattle - Tahmina

Tahmina Martelly

Resiliency Programs Manager

Originally from Dhaka, Bangladesh, Tahmina lived in Yemen before arriving at a farm in Idaho. A registered dietitian by education, Tahmina has worked with refugee and immigrant resiliency projects for the last 25 years. Most recently, she taught at the University of Utah, division of Nutrition and developed and taught computer literacy classes at the Utah Refugee Education Center. Tahmina has been with World Relief Seattle since 2016. She oversees our new Resiliency and Empowerment programs at World Relief Seattle.

Seattle - Santa

Santa Pradhan

Employment Manager

Santa and her family fled persecution in their homeland of Bhutan in 1992. She lived in a refugee camp in Nepal for 18 years before resettling in Seattle in 2009 with the assistance of World Relief. She holds an Honors Bachelor's Degree in Commerce from the University of North Bengal in India and an AA degree from Highline Community College. She oversees the Employment and English programs at World Relief, working with local companies and connecting newly-arrived refugees to employment opportunities throughout the Puget Sound. Santa works closely with other VOLAGs in the Northwest advocating for refugees and immigrants.

Seattle - Nataliya

Nataliya Semeshchuk

Office Manager

Nataliya moved to the US from Ukraine in 1993 and joined the team at World Relief Seattle in 2000. She is Department of Justice accredited (formerly BIA) and manages World Relief Seattle's IT needs, Reception, as well as general office operations. Nataliya is a member of CityHill Church in Auburn.

Seattle - Katie

Katie Stoppler

Health and Wellness Manager

Katie, born and raised in Washington, holds a Bachelor's degree in Global Development Studies from Seattle Pacific University. She has been with World Relief Seattle since 2015. She now oversees the Health & Wellness Team, providing extended support to families with special needs or extra barriers to success.

Seattle - Andrew

Andrew Hays

Immigration Legal Services Manager

Andrew began his work at World Relief Seattle in 2010 as the In Kind Donations Coordinator, where he worked with refugees and the community to furnish families' first apartments in Washington. He also worked for three years with individuals, churches, and businesses that invest financially in World Relief Seattle's work. Andrew now oversees the office's Immigration Legal Services. He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology from Seattle Pacific University and is a Department of Justice-accredited immigration representative.

Seattle - Liz

Liz Nelson

Outreach Manager

After completing an internship with World Relief Seattle in 2010, Liz coordinated the refugee and asylum seeker program with World Relief Indonesia and then began building her career as a health educator and community programs coordinator. Liz happily returned to World Relief Seattle in 2018 as Volunteer Coordinator. Liz is passionate about fostering an environment of cultural humility, where World Relief staff, partners, and volunteers feel more comfortable asking questions than holding assumptions. Liz holds a B.A. from the University of Washington in International Studies and Global Health. She oversees the Outreach Team, including the Detention Center Ministries, Good Neighbor Teams, community partnerships, volunteer programs, and post-detention services.

SEATTLE_Emelie

Emelie Coffman

Children and Youth Programs Manager

Originally from Sweden, Emelie studied early childhood development at the University of Stockholm and did master course work in childhood trauma, with a specialized program in youth, children, and migration. She worked with refugee families during the resettlement process in Stockholm and Uppsala before moving to the U.S. Emelie's passion is to promote social and emotional development in children and to empower parents in their ability to advocate for their children's success.
