Today, the world is experiencing an unprecedented crisis. Hundreds of millions of people have been driven from their homes by three interconnected realities — violent conflict, climate change and extreme poverty. At World Relief, we continue an 80-year legacy of responding to the urgent crises of our day.
In FY2023,
we brought the love and care of Christ to people around the world in their greatest moments of need — when they were fleeing wars in Ukraine and Sudan, internally displaced, struck by disasters in Türkiye and Syria or seeking safety in the United States.
We went far, we went deep and we did it together.

A Stroke of Lasting Change
In the Little Brushstrokes art studio at World Relief Southern California, something beautiful is happening. After years of wandering and displacement, children are finding security and community — prompted by the power of art. For kids like Hamid, this space is a much needed sanctuary. Hamid was 11 when, in 2021, he and his family escaped the Taliban. When Hamid first attended Little Brushstrokes in 2022, like most child refugees, he struggled with social skills and had no community to lean on.
For Such a Time as This
We live in historic times. Today, more people than ever in recorded history have been forced to flee their homes. There are over 110 million forcibly displaced people worldwide, according to UNHCR, The UN Refugee Agency. In FY23, we continued to boldly engage this unprecedented migration crisis by opening offices in hot spots of displacement like Chad and Ukraine while continuing to welcome refugees to the U.S..
Divine Direction: Go Far, Go Together in the U.S.
From the very beginning, World Relief has been serving those displaced by global crises and conflicts. Committed to expanding our capacity to serve more displaced men, women and children, in FY23 we opened five new locations across the U.S. in Austin, TX; Dallas, TX; Davenport, IA; San Diego, CA and Olympia, WA.
A Good Neighbor to Those in Need
In the parable of the Good Samaritan, Jesus says a good neighbor is one who cares for those in need — and we want to live out that example of neighborly love! That’s why we initiated a historic expansion of our Good Neighbor Team (GNT) program. Through GNTs, volunteers like Amy are equipped to welcome and walk alongside refugees and other immigrants arriving in their communities.
A Network of Care
When Manouchcha’s one-year-old daughter was diagnosed with malnutrition, she didn’t have the money to feed her well. Learn how World Relief’s USAID-funded SCOPE Project helped over 50,000 households like hers in FY23. Through SCOPE, we worked to reduce preventable maternal and child mortality and morbidity in some of the remotest parts of Haiti, Kenya, Malawi and South Sudan.
Disability is Not Inability
Did you know that people living with disabilities make up 16% of the world’s population? That’s 1 in 6 of us. And yet, in communities across the globe, people living with disabilities are often pushed to the edges of society. They face significant barriers to participating in their communities and accessing critical care, putting them at greater risk of violence, exploitation, poor health and poverty.
Thankfully, God wrote a different story for Boniface in Malawi.
Welcoming Through Literacy
For decades, local churches and organizations like World Relief have welcomed refugees and other immigrants through English classes, equipping them with skills to navigate their new communities. However, few programs have addressed the needs of newcomers with little to no literacy in their native languages.
In FY23, we responded to this need by develop Foundations of Literacy, an innovative curriculum that will have a profound impact on some of the most vulnerable and isolated immigrants in the U.S.
