Volunteer Opportunities with World Relief

Practice conversational English and language skills with an adult refugee or immigrant, becoming friends in the process!

We have several ways to get involved with ESL!

ESL Driver – provide transportation to and from an ESL class once a week

Tutor – provide individualized ESL tutoring to a client or family once a week. Short-term and long-term opportunities available.

Homework Helper – help a middle school or high school student with their English homework. (Writing assignments are particularly challenging!)

Serve a refugee by providing transportation to and from an appointment. Location and schedule would be coordinated with what works with your schedule and availability.

Combat loneliness and isolation through intentional friendship. Get to know a refugee or immigrant family and help them feel known and connected by providing consistent friendship and cultural empowerment, while assisting in practical ways.

In this opportunity, you’ll walk alongside a newly arrived family for 6 months. Throughout this intense and disorienting time of resettlement for refugees, a Friendship Partner provides practical care, ESL, transportation and a compassionate friendship and empowering support of a family’s goals and story.

Assist with apartment/house set-up before our refugee families arrive in their new home.

6-8 committed volunteers trained to walk alongside a newly arrived family for 6 months. Throughout this intense and disorienting time of resettlement for refugees, a Good Neighbor Team (GNT) provides practical care, ESL, transportation and a compassionate network of friends and empowering support of a family’s goals and story.
