Refugee Resettlement

World Relief Baltimore is excited to announce the launch of a new Refugee Resettlement Program, in addition to our long-standing Immigration Legal Services program. Our first refugee family arrived in April 2024. We would love for you to join us as we welcome other individuals and families in the coming months!

“We’re excited to welcome and support more refugees and other immigrants as we open in new
communities,” said World Relief Senior Vice President of US Programs Aerlande Wontamo. “In
the midst of an unprecedented global displacement crisis, we’re eager to do more — in more
places — to help refugees to rebuild their lives in the United States.”

R&P provides initial services for their first 30-90 days in the country. The program is designed to help refugees achieve self-sufficiency and integration into American society. These initial services include access to housing, essential furnishings, food, clothing, community/cultural orientation, and essential services.

As part of the cooperative agreement, R&P also seeks to connect newly arrived families with volunteers and community members to help them along their path to self-sufficiency. Because refugees arrive with what they can pack in a suitcase, R&P also seeks donations to fully furnish new refugee homes. We need lightly used furniture and other household items.

If you have in-kind donations, please fill out this Form.

Today there are over 80 million people around the globe who have been forced, or made the painful choice, to leave their home. Threatened by extreme poverty, violence, and oppression, they leave behind everything familiar to seek a life free from fear.

Thousands of these refugees, asylees and other immigrants in vulnerable situations come to the United States every year seeking a place to rebuild their lives.

And together, we can help.

Creating a Community of Welcome

At World Relief, we partner with the local church and hundreds of individual volunteers to assist newly arrived families in the United States. Since World Relief launched national resettlement services 40 years ago, we’ve welcomed nationally over 294,000 refugees to the United States in partnership with the U.S. Department of State, and have served over 125,000 other immigrants by providing vital services and community connections.

Whether it’s securing housing, supplying basic necessities, or enrolling children in school, we come alongside these families every step of the way as they begin on the path to belonging.

“We cannot fulfill our mission without the partnership of local churches, and we’re eager to engage local churches in each of these new communities as we begin refugee resettlement.”

-Myal Greene, President and CEO of World Relief

"You feel like people love you. A lot of people are alone, and here [at World Relief], they feel they are important. This place gives confidence to people. Before I came here, I didn’t want to go outside and talk to people. After I studied here, I felt confident. I could go outside and do several things by myself."
