1. Create a Challenge

This May-June, we are encouraging you to move in a meaningful way to support refugees. This might be a physical challenge like walking 100 miles in June, it might be using your voice to advocate for policies that affect refugees like starting a letter writing campaign with you and 10 of your friends, or it might be giving your time to be a friend to a refugee in the community.

2. Share your Mission

Share your heart with others to reach a minimum goal of $250 individually or $1,000 as a group!

3. Double Your Impact

Through incredibly generous donors, all gifts up to $50,000 are being matched through the efforts of everyone who is Moved to Welcome! So, your $250 goal will be $500 to support thousands of refugees in Chicagoland as they create a true sense of belonging here.

Why be Moved to Welcome this May-June?

  • • Ensure refugees in the community receive essential holistic support
  • • Promote awareness and advocate for refugees to reach safety in the U.S.
  • • Support refugees as they grow and thrive in the community

Raise Your Volunteer Hours

Volunteers give back time worth at least $34/hour. If you are a volunteer, sign-up and raise support to show and reflect how much you have invested in the lives of refugees in the community.

Advocate for Policy Change

Your voice matters to refugees! Raise funds and show the community that you are investing in creating real change for refugees. Write to every member of Congress and ensure they know that people in the community believe in the Refugee Resettlement program.

Walk 70 miles this month

It’s estimated that several thousand migrants walk roughly 70 miles through the perilous Darien Gap to get from South to Central America. Walk 70 miles this month to show solidarity with those who have no other choice but to make this journey.

Words from Refugees in the Community

“But when I reached here, I was very happy. I found something different from what I was expecting. I met good people who liked me and who liked to meet with me. I said ‘Oh, thank God I finally have a good place to live. They don’t care if I am Hutu here. They don’t care that I am a refugee. There is no discrimination here.’”
Agathe
“World Relief is our mother. We can never forget you.”
Somi
“It is hard to describe the huge support World Relief has been to our family. No hay palabras.”
Carmen
“Thanks to my dear sister at World Relief, I have come out of my shell and feel a part of a community. I have a way to get to my new job, and they have welcomed me.”
