Welcoming Asylum Seeker Buses from Texas

Part of a coordinated response in Chicago.

On August 31, 2022, buses of asylum seekers and other migrants from Texas began arriving in Chicago.

World Relief Chicagoland welcomes those who have arrived on buses from Texas. These individuals and families have fled hardships such as corruption, threats against their lives, loss of loved ones, and authoritarian regimes.

In line with our Christian faith motivation, we believe immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers are human beings and deserving of dignity and respect.

As the City of Chicago coordinates a response, World Relief Chicagoland joins with many other partners to welcome and serve.

A Global Crisis

There are over 100 million people displaced around the world today. If you’re like us, this breaks your heart and feels overwhelming, and massive and it's hard to see what you can do to help.

Here’s the good news. When you join us today, you can.

At World Relief, over the past 40 years we’ve welcomed, befriended, and advocated for thousands of immigrants in vulnerable situations. And we’ve done so with the help of bold and compassionate women and men just like you.

Here's how:

Whether setting up a new apartment, serving as an English tutor or mobilizing your church to build a HOME Team, you can join our local network of volunteers who are positively impacting Chicagoland by dedicating their time and resources as a volunteer.

You can seek justice and mercy for the most vulnerable, using your voices to influence those in positions of power who can save lives. We have active Advocacy Actions to Protect Vulnerable Immigrants that need bold and compassionate people like you.

Together, let’s show the world that America is a place of welcome and that we are a people of welcome. When you give today, you join us in bringing hope, healing, and restoration to Asylum seekers and other immigrants right here in Chicagoland.

Together, we can provide hope, healing, and restoration to the suffering.
