Opportunities for Churches | World Relief Chicagoland Skip to content

In celebration of our 80th anniversary, we’ve released a new song created in partnership with Austin-based singer-songwriter Jon Guerra:
Let Us Be the Church.

World Relief boldly engages the world's greatest crises in partnership with the church. We have seen the body of Christ be a space of welcome for refugee and immigrant neighbors in Chicagoland for over 45 years. God’s call to be recognized in “the stranger” — the foreigner, the immigrant, the outsider — is an ancient call.

The number of people forcibly displaced from their homes has reached the highest point in recorded history. Hundreds of millions of people have been driven from their homes and are looking for their new home in Chicagoland to be a space of welcome.

Is your church hearing the Spirit whisper “It’s time to see Jesus in the face of the stranger”?

What does it mean to be a church partner with World Relief?

As a church partner, we value a mutual relationship that will help to make our new neighbors feel welcomed and know the love of Christ. We will journey with you to deepen the impact you can have. We have seen this impact over 45 years with churches opening up their sanctuaries for immigrant-churches to have a worship space. Chicagoland churches have responded to the need of asylum seekers by opening parsonages, spaces within their church building, and paying for apartments.

The depth of love goes far and wide here. But it starts first with making a commitment to these four things:

Watch the video to learn about the impact of a Welcome Kit.

Welcome Kits

To find out more about what is included in a Welcome Kit, download the Welcome Kit Donation Guide. We ask every church partner to make the commitment of at least one Welcome Kit a year.

Prayer

This is a global crises we are facing and it can only be met with prayer. Come together as a church and pray for the needs of newly arrived refugees, asylum seekers, and other immigrants.

Volunteer

Whether your congregation becomes a Good Neighbor Team or begins to pick-up new arrivals at O'Hare as a Transportation Assistant, we love to see the hands and feet of Jesus make a direct impact in the lives of refugees and other immigrants

Financial Commitment

We value your financial partnership as you make a commitment to this work with either a monthly or annual gift
