Host Homes

Host Homes are a temporary housing solution for refugees (specifically individuals with refugee status) who are waiting for permanent housing. Chicagoland residence can temporarily host refugees in their home.

A community member who has both a spare bedroom and a spare bathroom in their home. These spaces need to be private, dignifying spaces for the guest.

Hosting can last 3 days to 3 weeks. Placements of refugees in a Host Home is done with the help of a coordinator  (me - Seth) to ensure the safety and comfortability of both the guest and the host. Placements are determined by your schedule and ability to host.

Hosts can have as little or as much involvement as they would like. You can function more as an airbnb by simply offering a safe place for refugees to rest. Or you can build relationships as you share meals, and cultural knowledge. You can go grocery shopping together and practice language skills. World Relief will provide training and continuous support throughout each placement, while we pursue long-term success for the new arrival.
