Volunteer Opportunities with World Relief

This year World Relief Memphis is welcoming over 200 refugees!

We need compassionate and welcoming people like you to help us in the first steps of welcoming new refugee individuals and families to Memphis.

Help us by:

• organizing and sorting donations in preparation for refugees arriving in their first home.
• setting up incoming refugee houses and apartments.
• being a part of a welcoming crew who pick-up refugee individuals and families at the airport and take them to their new home.

These are one-time volunteer opportunities, meaning volunteers will receive communication about upcoming opportunities and commit as their unique schedule allows.

Volunteer once, twice, or however many times!

Help a recent refugee or asylee family or individual adjust to American life by walking alongside them with a group of volunteers (a small group of your friends and/or fellow church members). You'll be their guide from the very beginning, from meeting them at at the airport, to helping enroll them in social services, to building a relationship.

Build relationships by coming alongside a refugee or immigrant youth ages 15-24 as they navigate life in the U.S., from high-school to college to career opportunities. Along the way, you'll not only be helping to build their confidence but also be creating relationships that transform. Learn more.

Studying to be an ESL teacher or just want to have meaningful and helpful conversations with new Memphians learning English? Volunteer as a English tutor!

Studying to be a teacher or ESL teacher? Get practicum hours by volunteering as a TA!

Lead small group activities, conversation practice, monitor students’ written and spoken activities, and support individual student needs with potential to teach small-groups and mini-lessons in the Connect Language Center.

Host homes provide a safe place to stay, friendship and much needed rest for those in a time of transition. Right now we have an urgent need for host homes in three different capacities. All hosts must submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination for everyone 12 and up in the household.
