Tutoring

We train volunteers who are then matched with a family or individual. They meet at times they choose and focus on the needs of the student, such as assisting with reading bills, improving language skills, and building relationships.

Refugee Women's Integration Groups

These groups meet weekly for an English literacy class and an Integration and Health class. We have developed a unique, best-practices literacy curriculum that helps make refugee women with no educational background comfortable learning numeracy, literacy, and basic conversational skills. Likewise, we have created an Integration & Health curriculum tailored to their needs. We partner with local professionals who present on critical topics relevant to the women’s needs, including parenting, domestic violence, transportation safety, nutrition, first aid, navigating the healthcare system, pharmacy services, and mental, reproductive, and dental health. All presentations are translated into the women’s native languages and provide a springboard for group discussion.

Programs result in students who are confident and able to more successfully navigate day-to-day life in the United States.

For the safety of students and volunteers, all services are currently provided remotely.
