Volunteer Opportunities with World Relief

“Apartment Set Up” Every month we move refugee families into housing. It takes a team of people to help load furniture and household items into a truck, then unload and assist in setting up the home. This is a great opportunity to serve families and be part of the housing team!

“Cultural Orientation Preparation” Each week we host multiple cultural orientation classes that help refugee families acquire vital knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to adapt to their new lives and achieve self-sufficiency. Come be part of this awesome group by assisting to prep resources and assemble binders for each attendee.

Good Neighbors are individuals, families or a small group of friends who desire to help refugees with community integration by providing life skills, spending quality time together and sharing cultures with each other. Good Neighbors can also have a focus on Job Coaching, Health Advocacy and/or English Tutoring.

Our Good Neighbor Team program is a team-based, relational volunteer opportunity consisting of 5-7 members (formed by you). This group comes alongside a refugee family for a duration of 6 months and assists them in their transition to Sacramento.

Come alongside job seekers in a variety of ways including individual job coaching, crafting resumes, setting up LinkedIn accounts and being part of mock interviews to prepare clients for the workplace in the United States.

Learning English is one of the most critical areas of support needed for new refugees. You can help by being a tutor for a woman in one of our literacy classes.

Commitment: 1 ½ hours each week (½ hour prepping; 1 hour tutoring) for 3 months

Scheduling is flexible; however, most students prefer to meet between 9am-2pm.

This opportunity is for female volunteers only.

Can't make a regular commitment to volunteering but want to help when you can? There are a variety of ways to serve as an arrival volunteer - you can welcome a refugee family at the airport and drive them to their new home or you can purchase groceries for home cooked meals.
