Volunteer with Immigration Legal Services

Why immigration legal assistance?

In short, access to affordable immigration legal services is vital for immigrants’ short and long-term integration into their communities. Services can help individuals naturalize and become citizens, maintain legal residency and work permits, reunify families, avoid deportation, and protect the rights of immigrant victims of human trafficking, domestic violence, and violent crime. The services of private attorneys can be cost-prohibitive and many immigrants resort to the use of unscrupulous community agents who mislead and defraud, often jeopardizing their legal status.

At World Relief Sacramento, we are working to build transformational volunteer opportunities.

We prepared a brief interactive online orientation to help you understand the many ways you can get involved with the ILS program at World Relief Sacramento. Past legal experience is not required!

After viewing the orientation, contact Ted Oswald, the ILS manager, at toswald@wr.org or (916) 978-3504 to learn more or click below to start your volunteer application.

Volunteer Application Steps:
After submitting an application, you will be invited to attend an optional volunteer orientation, but requirements include submitting a liability waiver, completing a background check, watching Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) webinar, in addition to being cleared by two references.
