Why donate a car?

The refugees and other immigrants we serve have come from all over the world and now live in the greater Sacramento area. Most of these refugees are living in suburbs where a personal mode of transportation is essential to get to work, appointments, the grocery store, and school events.

Car donations are just one part of the World Relief Sacramento Resettlement process; working in conjunction with services like employment English language classes, youth programs, and more. Most car donation recipients help other in their community by driving carpools for errands and work; thus a single donation enables an entire network of refugees to gain independence.

One car can make a world of difference to recently arrived refugees!

How It Works

Donating a vehicle is a meaningful way to help refugee and immigrant families move toward greater stability, independence, and opportunity.

To help us safely and responsibly place donated vehicles, please review the following:

Vehicles must have current California registration at the time of donation.

Drivable Condition
Vehicles must be in drivable condition. You are welcome to drop off your vehicle at our Sacramento office, or we can help arrange pickup.

In most cases, we are unable to accept vehicles with an active check engine light, as they will not pass smog certification. If a minor repair is needed to clear the light, we kindly ask that it be completed before donation.

In some cases, a vehicle may not be suitable for placement due to repair needs. In those situations, donors may consider selling the vehicle and donating the proceeds—still making a meaningful difference for the families we serve.
