Next Steps to Volunteer
1. Volunteer Application
Complete the volunteer application (DONE!). Ask any family members, housemates, or friends volunteering with you to do the same.
2. Online Volunteer Orientation
Complete the required New Volunteer Orientation on The Workshop. This 45 minute e-course gives an overview of the work of World Relief, mass displacement and immigration, World Relief’s U.S. programs, and next steps for you as a volunteer here in the Quad Cities.
3. Local Orientation
After completing the e-course, sign up for a local, in-person volunteer orientation at our office. Orientation takes place on the third Thursday of each month.
4. Background Checks
(Please complete this only if you have not already done so for World Relief within the past 12 months.)
After you attend both the general and local orientations, you must complete a background check through Sterling Volunteers.
If you will be serving as a volunteer for Cultural Partner Teams, transportation to medical appointments, grocery trips, or any role that could include transporting a guest or client (in a personal vehicle or WR vehicle), you must also complete the driving portion of the check.
*If you experience any issues with the background/license check, you can reach tech support at TheAdvocates@SterlingVolunteers.com or call 1-855-326-1860 and select Option 3.
Once your background check clears and you’ve submitted all your paperwork, we will work to get back with you as soon as we can. We will then connect you with the coordinator of the program you will be volunteering in for next steps in getting started!
Thank you for taking these next steps to volunteer with World Relief!
