World Relief Spokane loses federal funding, must halt resettlement efforts following federal policy changes

The organization says it will no longer receive federal funding and at least 400 people who were scheduled to resettle in Spokane can no longer enter the U.S.

SPOKANE, Wash. — World Relief Spokane, a local organization that helps refugees find homes in the Inland Northwest, says it may not be able to accept more people after President Donald Trump signed an executive order designed to realign the Refugee Admissions Program.

“We assist people in moving to Spokane from, this year, over 51 countries around the world. And everyone is completely vetted and invited by the U.S. government,” said Christi Armstrong, the executive director at World Relief Spokane.
