Leave a mark: Spring 2024 interns’ reflection
As we wish the best of luck to our spring interns, we also recognize the impact they’ve had during their time with us and the impression we’ve left on them. We are so thankful for their hard work and dedication and hope that they continue to make a difference in the world.

Interning at World Relief was a big transformative experience for me. One highlight was helping with an interview in my second language. It made me realize that I wanted to pursue a career in Human Resources. The people at World Relief were so kind and made me feel appreciated every day. I was met with smiles every day when I walked into the office. I quickly learned in my first two weeks of interning at World Relief that the organization helps a lot more families than I imagined and the people that work here are all givers. They go the extra mile for the people they serve. Their encouragement helped me decide to focus on Human Resources in my studies. Overall, interning at World Relief was a great experience that helped me figure out my career path.

I learned that there exists a rare kind of person that can somehow align their moral compass with their physical actions in an all-encompassing way and these people are the kinds of people I look up to and derive the most inspiration from. I was surrounded by them in the housing department of World Relief and found them in the case working departments as well. Good people are the lifeblood of the service industry and the people doing the grind work at World Relief are the kinds of people I want to be like when I enter the field. They quite literally practice what they preach and that’s something that earns my respect more than any accolade or title. I learned more from my coworkers than I did from a lot of my professors and it’s an experience I’ll never forget.

My most significant accomplishment during my time interning was creating the new volunteer orientation slideshow. It is one of my greatest accomplishments because I put a lot of time into it and now it will continue to be used. I feel as if I left my mark. Although it may sound really cheesy, I learned how kind and caring everyone was. Everyone interacts with each other and takes the time to learn from each other. Both the organization and the people within it are genuinely passionate about what they do and their cause which in turn leads to better outcomes. I think my time interning here has definitely made me more culturally competent. The trainings I did and even the interactions I had with people of different backgrounds helped me in expanding my cultural knowledge. I will take what I learned here with me into my future career.
