Update on Myanmar Earthquake from Brandon Prichard
On March 28, a catastrophic 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar — devastating a region already overwhelmed by years of civil conflict and mass displacement. With the epicenter located in an area sheltering more than 1.6 million internally displaced persons (IDPs), this disaster has deepened an already desperate humanitarian crisis.
More than 3,500 people have lost their lives, over 5,000 are injured and 148 are still missing. Survivors are facing critical shortages of food, water, shelter and medical care.
Bringing you a firsthand account from the region is Brandon Prichard, World Relief’s Country Director for Cambodia, who is stationed southwest of Myanmar — geographically and contextually close to the unfolding crisis.
World Relief is working alongside trusted partners on the ground who are members of Integral Alliance, a global alliance of Christian relief and development agencies that come together to respond in times of disaster.
This is the moment to be the church — to show up with compassion and share hope in the face of devastation.
Will you give now to bring light to those in crisis?
