Peacebuilding and the Church
Our peacebuilding work in conflict states has been internationally recognized both for its innovative, proactive approach to conflict resolution as well as for its bottom-up, community driven focus. We seek to resolve conflict and work toward reconciliation before these conflicts spill into violence and bloodshed.
In Christian contexts, where we believe that the church can be a powerful voice in conflict resolution, we train pastors to mediate and resolve conflicts through our Village Peace Committees (VPCs). In non-Christian contexts, proactive interfaith peacebuilding is also a critical part of our work. Here, we build interfaith networks that invite men and women of different faiths to come together as leaders and community influencers.
Such an approach ensures that conflict-ridden communities are better able to maintain peace, build stability and social harmony and access mechanisms that help resolve local conflicts before they turn to war.
