Ask Congress to Protect our Afghan Allies

Ask Your Members of Congress to Help Pass or Co-Sponsor the Afghanistan TPS Act.

Since the United States withdrew troops from Afghanistan and Kabul fell to the Taliban roughly five years ago, tens of thousands of Afghan allies of the U. S. military were brought to the U. S. and provided humanitarian parole. Many were subsequently granted Temporary Protected Status (TPS). In 2025, however, the Department of Homeland of Security reversed our country’s offer of protection to thousands of Afghans already present in the U.S. by terminating their TPS.

Afghan allies who have had their legal protections revoked are now unlawfully present and thus vulnerable to detention and deportation in some cases. Yet, their service with U.S. military, their religious identity, and/or their gender makes returning to Afghanistan dangerous.

A recently introduced bipartisan bill, H.R. 9899 or the Afghanistan TPS Act, would provide TPS for Afghans until April 1, 2029. This bill would protect our Afghan allies from deportation and re-establish their work authorizations for three years.
