Urgent: Ask Your Senators to Oppose Rescissions Bill
The “Department of Government Efficiency” unilaterally has made billions of dollars in cuts to U.S. foreign assistance funding, including cutting lifesaving funding for the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) that has, for decades, provided access to anti-retroviral medications and to proven interventions that have dramatically slowed the spread of HIV.
Now, the U.S. Senate is considering formalizing these funding cuts through a “rescissions package,” but many U.S. Senators have expressed skepticism, particularly with respect to cutting PEPFAR and other lifesaving foreign assistance. If they do not pass this rescissions package before July 18, the administration may be required to use these resources as Congress instructed them to originally – to save lives and halt the spread of deadly diseases.
Use this tool to call your two U.S. Senators’ offices, asking them to vote against this rescissions package and to preserve funding for PEPFAR and lifesaving foreign assistance.
