Urgent Global Needs — And How You Can Help

Around the world, families are facing unimaginable challenges due to ongoing crises, conflict and natural disasters. From the violence in DR Congo to the starvation in Sudan, millions of individuals – especially women and children – are in desperate need of immediate support.

At the same time, a U.S. government funding freeze has forced World Relief to halt several critical programs, jeopardizing life-saving services for those who depend on them.

Despite these challenges, we remain committed to answering God’s call to serve. Through God’s provision and your support, we can continue to provide food, medical care, support for survivors of violence and more, ensuring that those who are suffering are not forgotten. Your gift can help us overcome this funding gap and bring Christ’s love and hope to those in need.

Life-Saving Support for Displaced Sudanese

In Sudan, relentless conflict has displaced millions, leaving families without access to basic necessities like healthcare, food, water and shelter, with many communities on the verge of famine. Despite the immense challenges, World Relief Sudan remains steadfast in its commitment to offering life-saving aid to internally displaced persons and marginalized host communities.

However, the demand far exceeds the resources available. Just across the border in Chad, an ongoing refugee crisis – driven by the devastating conflict in Sudan – has placed immense strain on local communities and resources. With 722,000 Sudanese refugees seeking safety, food insecurity has soared, and preventable diseases are spreading rapidly. World Relief is providing critical aid such as food, water, sanitation and nutrition, but the needs are vast, and resources are scarce.

A gift of $50,000 will make an immediate impact, allowing us to deliver essential services like nutrition, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH), and healthcare to those in desperate need.

Humanitarian Aid for Displaced Congolese

In January 2025, escalating violence in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) erupted, pushing the region into a devastating crisis. Schools, hospitals and vital infrastructure were destroyed, leaving entire communities without access to healthcare or education. Displacement camps were targeted, pushing the number of internally displaced people to a record 7.3 million. World Relief DR Congo is currently on the front lines, ready to provide immediate relief, including food, clean water and essential household items to those who need it most.

In addition to those displaced in DRC, over 70,000 men, women and children have fled across the border to Burundi, desperately seeking safety and refuge. These families have lost everything. They are now living in overcrowded camps, facing the harsh realities of survival without basic necessities. World Relief Burundi has been supporting Congolese refugees in local camps for the past year, working closely with churches in these communities. Now, there is an urgent need to expand our efforts to respond to the influx of new arrivals by providing life-saving aid.

A gift of $200,000 will provide one month of life-saving support to 170 families benefiting 851 individuals.

Resource Vulnerable Communities in Haiti

For years, daily life in Haiti has been full of hardships brought on by political instability, economic uncertainty and a lack of general services. World Relief Haiti has offered hope through life-saving programs but is now facing an urgent crisis, exacerbated by the federal funding freeze. This pause in funding has led to a halt of our vital programs and threatens to unravel years of progress. Current impacts include the suspension of essential water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) activities putting 42,000 vulnerable people at grave risk.

Similarly, the suspension of a food assistance program leaves those already struggling with food insecurity without support. Economic resilience programs such as savings groups and agricultural programs, which are critical for long-term recovery, have also been jeopardized.

A gift of $50,000 will repair bathrooms, provide clean water access and protect the health of 42,000 people living in these Haitian communities.

Healthcare for Women and Children in South Sudan

Currently, life in South Sudan is characterized by insecurity, scarcity and survival in the face of multiple crises. For World Relief South Sudan, the recent stop work orders from the U.S. government have either forced the closure or drastic scaling down of critical health centers, directly impacting hundreds of thousands of mothers and malnourished children. Essential services such as pre- and postnatal care, safe deliveries, childhood immunizations, treatment for illnesses and intensive nutritional support for severely malnourished children under five have been impacted.

With these services suspended or greatly reduced, there is an immediate risk of losing all the progress made in combating life-threatening malnutrition and preventable diseases. The situation is dire. Malnutrition rates in South Sudan remain alarmingly high, with thousands of children facing the threat of death due to lack of access to emergency medical care. Immediate intervention is critical to prevent this crisis from escalating further.

A gift of $7,500 will provide 18 months of life-saving inpatient nutritional care for 18 severely malnourished children, ensuring they receive the essential medical and nutritional attention needed for survival.
