World Relief, one of the largest refugee resettlement organizations in the country, issues the following statement reminding Americans that this Saturday, Jan. 27, marks the one year anniversary of President Trump’s executive order (often referred to as a “travel ban”) limiting the number of refugees allowed to resettle in the United States and its effects on families from war-torn regions around the world struggling to survive

On Jan. 14, World Relief signed a letter written collectively by members of the Evangelical Immigration Table, a coalition of evangelical leaders and organizations seeking biblical solutions for immigration.

Responding to the divisive political rhetoric, natural disasters and hate-filled violence that have marked 2017, World Relief has released a new short film, entitled 1 Corinthians 13 (Love In Action).

It’s estimated that more than 36 million people worldwide are currently living with AIDS, more than 2 million of which are children. Approximately 5,000 new cases are contracted every single day and 1 million lives are lost each year.

On November 30th, World Relief’s Seattle office in Kent, Washington was one of 25 finalists awarded $25,000 from the Starbucks Foundation’s Upstander Challenge. 

The new executive order regarding the future of the US Refugee Admissions Program creates a virtual wall that will keep many of the most vulnerable refugees in our world from finding safety in America. 

World Relief is very disappointed by reports that the President will set the maximum number of refugees who could be resettled to the United States in FY2018 at a historically low 45,000.

Global humanitarian and development organization World Relief is calling the church to personal reflection in the lead up to the United Nations’ International Day of Peace on September 21. On September 1, World Relief released the first of three weekly guides titled, 21 Days of Peace, a resource for personal reflection centered on the idea of peace and the power it has to change hearts, communities and ultimately, the world.
