Urgent Responses
A massive landslide tore through South Darfur on August 31, burying an entire village. Hundreds may have lost their lives. This tragedy struck a nation already reeling from the weight of war, disease and starvation. Civil war has forced 10.5 million people from their homes, famine has gripped North Darfur, and a cholera outbreak has infected more than 99,000 people and killed over 2,400. The recent landslide has compounded suffering for families that had already been struggling to survive. World Relief is on the ground, preparing to deliver clean water, sanitation and lifesaving supplies despite daunting obstacles. Families in Sudan cannot wait — they need your help now.
Will you respond?
A 6.0 magnitude earthquake hit eastern Afghanistan on August 31, crumbling entire villages. The quake has claimed over 1400 lives and injured more than 3,100 — with numbers expected to rise as rescuers struggle to reach villages.
Just three years since the last deadly earthquake, many Afghan communities are still rebuilding. Poor infrastructure, remote access and worsening floods leave the region dangerously vulnerable — and the weekend’s quake has only compounded the crisis. Worse still, flash floods are impeding rescue efforts.
World Relief is urgently working to mobilize partners to assess the damage and launch a swift response to deliver life-saving aid. Will you help families impacted by this devastating earthquake?
United States
In January 2025, the U.S. government suspended the Refugee Reception & Placement (R&P) program and terminated its long-standing agreement with World Relief to resettle refugees. This decision immediately impacted 4,000 newly arrived refugees in our care, eliminating critical federal funding intended to provide essentials like housing, food and basic support during their first 90 days in the U.S.
In the face of crisis, generous partners, churches and communities stood in the gap and answered the call to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
But our work doesn’t end after 90 days. Today, we continue to walk alongside thousands of refugees and immigrants across the country because arrival is just the beginning. For many, the path to rebuilding their lives is filled with obstacles — language barriers, limited access to services, legal uncertainty and cultural disconnection.
World Relief is meeting these needs every day through English language classes, employment support, immigration legal services and programs that foster long-term belonging.
We need your help so that families can thrive.
Will you give today to help build communities where immigrants are welcomed, supported and empowered to flourish?
Israel and Gaza
On October 7, 2023, the world was shaken by news of the deadly attack on Israel by Palestinian armed groups in Gaza. In nearly two years since, the crisis has continued to deepen. Over 60,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza and thousands injured. Famine has officially been declared in Gaza City and the surrounding territory, with nearly half a million people facing starvation, acute malnutrition and even death. The rest of Gaza’s two million residents are also struggling to survive during a war in which most food and aid has been blocked from entering. Of the hostages taken into Gaza, 48 hostages remain, 20 of whom are believed to be alive.
World Relief has been providing emergency assistance alongside local partners in the Middle East since October 2023. Together, we’ve provided medicine and essential supplies to over 80,000 people in Gaza, the West Bank and Lebanon. We’ve also provided food and clothing to more than 5,200 Palestinians and Israelis in Bethlehem and the West Bank. In Gaza, we’ve provided food for 87,000 people, helped install three solar-powered filtration systems that have given 1,950 Gazans access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation, and installed 50 latrines that have provided safe sanitation facilities to more than 2,500 people daily. Through a local Egyptian church partner, we’ve been able to bring spiritual, emotional and physical care to nearly more than 2,800 displaced Palestinians. Today, we’re positioned at the border through our trusted partner — ready to send in lifesaving aid the moment it opens.

Ukraine
War & Invasion • February 2022 - Present

In 2024, an estimated 14.6 million people will be in need of humanitarian aid due to the ongoing war in Ukraine. Since the earliest days of this crisis, generous people like you have responded by welcoming Ukrainians in the United States and providing emergency assistance in Eastern Europe. Now, as the war continues into its third year, so does our calling to respond.
We have now established a permanent presence in Ukraine, leveraging our decades of experience working in current- and post-conflict environments to build adaptable, church-led initiatives that will enable us to meet needs as they arise. What’s more, our U.S. offices continue to come alongside Ukrainians who are arriving in the United States, connecting them with vital services and welcoming communities they need to recover to adjust to life in the U.S.
When you give today, you help us meet urgent needs and build lasting solutions in places like Ukraine.

Middle East
The humanitarian crisis in the Middle East has been deepening. On September 23, 2024, Israeli forces launched an extensive attack on Hezbollah military assets in Lebanon. Since the attack, more than 1,030 people have lost their lives, including 87 children and 156 women, with over 6,000 individuals injured. More than 1 million men, women and children in Beirut and across Southern Lebanon have fled their homes, adding to the millions already displaced in the region. In retaliation, Hezbollah has ramped up rocket attacks on Israel, injuring innocent civilians.
World Relief has been responding to the crisis in the Middle East alongside local partners and we’re expanding our efforts to deliver emergency aid in Lebanon and the wonder region. We urgently need your help! Your donation will go directly to providing life-saving assistance to those affected by this escalating crisis.
