5 Joyful Ways To Support Wisconsin’s Newest Neighbors This Christmas

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

If you’ve got a heart for giving this Christmas season, we’ve got options.

Pick your favorite way to give hope to dozens of displaced people seeking safety and security in Wisconsin. Whether you prefer wrapping up (pun totally intended) your shopping quickly, taking part in a more hands-on community effort, giving a one and done easy dollar donation or sprinkling your support out throughout the year, we’ve got you covered.

  1. 🕯️Stock up on beautiful, cozy scented candles from Door County Candle Company for all your favorite teachers, friends and neighbors on your Christmas list. Use our special code WRW-EV1 at the check out and World Relief Wisconsin receives a percentage from every Candles Creating Change purchase.
  2. 🎄Join forces with your coworkers, parishioners, students or family members to take part in our first Instant Giving Tree project. Send an email to sign up to receive a box of ornaments labeled with our most critical basic needs for incoming arrivals to Wisconsin. Decorate your tree or other display with the ornaments and let everyone pick an ornament or two. Once the shopping is complete, collect all the items (no wrapping necessary), then arrange to deliver to our Appleton, Oshkosh or Eau Claire office by Dec. 23 if possible and Jan. 3 at the latest.
  3. 🛒 Add an item or two to your Amazon cart from our Chippewa Valley or Fox Valley wish lists when you are shopping for those great holiday deals. No muss, no fuss and you have just helped to welcome well newcomers to our community.
  4. 🦃 Make a one-time donation to help a refugee family cook their first holiday meal ($90) or to furnish their new apartment for a family of five ($700).
  5. 🗓️ Commit to a monthly donation to offer your support throughout the whole year. For example, $30 per month would pay for the first two months in rideshare costs so that a newcomer can start working right away to help provide for their family. Or, $85 per month would pay for immigration legal services consultation and filing an application for citizenship.
